A 6-session individual arc that starts where you actually are: in your body, not on a worksheet. Ground-based equine-assisted learning for adult women, grounded in Polyvagal Theory and the RISE framework.

The Format

Six individual sessions, two hours each. Solo facilitation by Susan Schaffler, PATH-certified (Part 1) equine-assisted learning facilitator. Sessions are bi-weekly, allowing time for integration between each. You can meet at Lincourt Stables at The Paddock in Atwater Village.

No riding. No prior horse experience required. No clinical diagnosis needed. This is personal development - not therapy, not coaching, not a retreat. It is a structured arc with a beginning, a middle, and an end, and you leave with something concrete: a documented story, a named set of strengths, and a direction you chose.

The RISE Arc

Present as four labeled phases, each with a one-line description. Design as icons or numbered steps on the page.

[Phase 1 — Resilience]  Sessions 1–2. We start with your nervous system. You learn how your body registers safety and threat, what co-regulation actually feels like, and how to map the ecosystem that’s been holding (or depleting) you.

[Phase 2 — Identity]  Sessions 3–4. We surface the gap between the self you perform and the self you actually inhabit. Values work, narrative reclamation, and the experience of being seen, honestly and without agenda.

[Phase 3 — Strengths]  Session 5. We turn from excavation to activation. You identify the strengths you’ve been using without knowing it and map where they’re actually going versus where you want them to go.

[Phase 4 — Empowerment]  Session 6. You design your own session. You read your story aloud. You name your Contribution Project - the direction you’re moving in, grounded in your values, your strengths, and what you now know about yourself.

Investment

[Full Rate — Individual Session]  $275 per session  ·  2 hours  ·  Solo facilitation

[6-Session Arc (recommended)]  $1,500 — the complete Intentional Pause arc, paid upfront. Includes intake call, all session materials, pre/post assessment, and a post-arc outcomes brief.

[Sliding Scale]  Self-identified. No documentation required. Sliding-scale spots are available at $200/session based on need. Please indicate when booking.

[Scholarship]  A limited number of scholarship spots are available each quarter for women who cannot access the program at any pay tier. Scholarship spots are grant- and donor-funded. Inquire directly at susan@unbridledrising.com.
